Professor Rolando Del Maestro is a Canadian neurosurgeon, scientist, innovator, and Director of the Neurosurgical Simulation and Artificial Intelligence Learning Centre. He led the Brain Research Laboratories at Western before joining McGill in 2000. With over 40 years of experience, he has been involved in training many neurosurgical residents and his current investigation explores the utility of virtual learning and artificial intelligence in surgical education.
Dr. Del Maestro is also the Chairperson, of Osler Library of the History of Medicine, the William Feindel Professor Emeritus in Neuro-Oncology, and the Honorary Osler Librarian. Dr. Del Maestro possesses one of the largest private collections of materials related to Leonardo da Vinci, and in 1996 curated an exhibition titled "Leonardo da Vinci; The Search for the Soul". Dr. Del Maestro is also the author of two volumes titled 'A History of Neuro-Oncology and 'Sir William Osler's Leonardo Da Vinci Collection: Flight, Anatomy, and Art'.
